Kira and Chief are not very big on dog toys. They have no interest in stuffed toys, toys that squeak, or chew toys. Chief however, has always expressed a fondness for tennis balls. Kira eventually developed the same interest. Neither of them are nuts about tennis balls but they will chase them and give them a good chew IF I play with them. The problem with tennis balls is that Kira and Chief can destroy one in minutes.

When I was in Minneapolis in September 1999, I bought three tennis ball toys for Kira and Chief. One of these is the TennisBone which has two tennis balls attached onto the ends of a rubber bone. So far it has proved indestructible and the dogs love it. The tennis balls on the end seem to be much tougher than the usual tennis ball and they are bonded to the bone with some process which DogToys.com claims is virtually impossible to break. We'll see...

Kira will occasionally try and get Chief and I to chase her. She will grab the TennisBone and run downstairs, pausing to give us the "Catch me if you can" look.

The two other tennis ball toys Kira and Chief now have are this tennis ball tug-of-war device:

which is unlikely to last more than a week, and a big 4" diameter tennis ball called the Jumball.
