Snow
(2001)

Naturally Kira and Chief love to play in the snow. When they are not running or wrestling in the snow, they will spend hours digging in the snow, eating snow, and even just lying around or sleeping in the snow.

When we have about three or four feet of snow, tree trunks form little craters with surprisingly steep slopes. It is fun to roll a tennis ball down one of these slopes and let the pups track it down.

Wrestling in the snow is of course a lot of fun for the dogs because it provides a soft landing pad for falls and tumbles. A lot of wrestling starts off with one dog eyeing another and giving that "Let's Play!" look.

Kira will routinely submit to Chief by simply just rolling over and putting all four paws straight up in the air! Chief will do this too on occasion. When one submits, the other must continue the game by 'attacking' and mouth wrestling.

When they are wrestling, the dogs will routinely paw one another...

and leap up to tackle and hopefully bowl the other dog over. Kira is particularly good at charging and bowling Chief over. Sometimes both Kira and Chief will stand up on their hind legs and wrestle with their forearms and mouths, just like bears.

Of course when the play is done, it's time to rest...

and sometimes even time to sleep!
