Snow

After sixteen months of planning, a dream is finally reality. On January 7th, 2000, we arrived in Canada - safe and sound. A full report will be forthcoming in the near future. Right now however, I am flat out trying to put together a settled life. As I write, my house has a minimal arrangement of furniture and my air shipment of household goods from Sydney has arrived and is half unpacked (my sea shipment is due to arrive at the end of February). What I do definitely have is two very happy puppies.

Chief and Kira were pretty stressed out from the trip but have settled in very well. Usually at this time of the year (late January), there would be several feet of snow. However the weather has been freakish and we are lucky to have three or four inches of snow. We are confident that the big snowfalls will come sometime soon.

Our house is a log house set on 2.5 acres of land. I have fenced off about half of this for the dogs to run in. That area (about 10 times the space they had on our property in Sydney), the cold weather (ranging from -30 C to -5 C), and the snow, has been a joy for them.
