Dogs of the North The Photo Album Hedgy Rest

Kira has a complete family of hedgehogs including three big hedgehogs and three smaller hedgehogs. When squeezed, the small hedgies grunt and the larger hedgies both grunt and make a series of clicking sounds. For reasons unknown, Kira really loves hedgies. She guards them fiercely and will not let Chief take them. Although she would usually give other items up to him (except for food), if he tries to grab a hedgy, she will tug-o'-war with him until she gets it back. If Chief approaches Kira while she has hedgies, she will warn him off with a growl.

Unfortunately, the squeakers in the hedgies never last very long. In fact I brought a large hedgy home one night and the squeakers were broken within an hour. Kira nevers means to do this but she chomps down on the squeakers so hard (remember that one of her nicknames is 'Bonemasher') that they usually break.

Kira is pictured above with a small hedgy. Every now and then she will use a hedgy as a chin rest. Once she even had three small hedgies piled up on top of one another and rested her chin on the very top! She will quite often get under the kitchen table and surround herself with all the hedgies.
